Paul “Tru1P” Holston has a passion for the Video Game / Esports industries on the intersections of Video Games, Diversity & Inclusion, and Culture. His vision is to be a Leader, Innovator, and Trailblazer in the Video Game industry in communications, public/community relations, or marketing.

Born in Sumter, South Carolina and raised in Summerville, South Carolina, since 2009 Paul has been a multimedia professional with a combined background of public affairs, journalism, and communications. He has been a Washington, D.C. resident since 2014.

Paul is a 2017 Howard University alumnus, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Media, Journalism, & Film Communications. Previously, Paul served as Community Manager for Electronic Art’s EA Play. He also as worked as an inaugural Rhoden Fellow for ESPN’s Andscape (formerly The Undefeated). During his undergraduate tenure at Howard, he served as the 2016-2017 editor-in-chief of Howard University’s student newspaper, The Hilltop, producing an award-winning newspaper. He also completed an internship as a Global News Intern for The Associated Press.

Prior to finishing his degree at Howard, Paul served in the United States Army from 2009-2014 and as both a public affairs specialist and photojournalist. During his active-duty career, he covered numerous stories and events both in the United States and overseas. His unit assignments included Fort Bragg, North Carolina, an overseas tour to South Korea in 2009 and a combat tour to Baghdad, Iraq in 2011 during Operation New Dawn. In June 2014, Paul completed his military service with a honorable discharge at the rank of sergeant (E-5).

Along with his background, Holston’s interests include video games (of course!), photography, poetry, and being involved in both social justice and advocacy in his community. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
